PhD Studentships in Adaptation and Visualisation, Ireland 2010 – Applications are invited for two funded Ph.D. positions in the Knowledge and Data Engineering Research Group (KDEG), Discipline of Intelligent Systems, School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin (TCD). KDEG enjoys a world-class reputation in the areas of adaptation research, intelligent systems and knowledge driven information systems. Successful candidates will have an excellent academic record (a postgraduate qualification, e.g. M.Sc., or a II.1 or higher in a relevant primary degree) in Computer Science or related discipline, strong communication skills and a proficiency for software development. Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Mesoscale Modeling of Nuclear Fuel at Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, NYU-Poly, Brooklyn, NY. Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Computational Mechanics Laboratory at NYU-Poly.

The selected postdoctoral fellow will participate in a vibrant interdisciplinary research group and will be involved in a research effort which aims at modeling the behavior of nuclear fuel under extreme conditions. Computational mechanics and theory will be the principal tool of investigation. Continued

M.Sc. Scholarships in Renewable Energy Science

M.Sc. Scholarships in Renewable Energy Science 2010 – The School for Renewable Energy Science in Iceland is now accepting applications for its one year (90 ECTS credits) international M.Sc. Degree Program in Renewable Energy Science, for the academic year 2011-2012.

The RES Program will in February 2011 complete its third year of operation when 49 masters degree students from twelve different countries will graduate. The students this year are specializing in four different fields, namely Geothermal Energy, Hydropower, Fuel Cell Systems & Hydrogen, and Energy Systems & Policies. PhD positions in Statistics, University of Goettingen Germany 2010 – The Centre for Statistics at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is currently inviting applications for 13 PhD Positions (75 % E 13 TV-L; 3 years) in Statistics and their Fields of Application within the Research Training Group (RTG 1644) on “Scaling Problems in Statistics” funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG).

The Research Training Group involves the Institutes for Mathematical Stochastics (Schlather, Sturm), Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (Brümmer, von Cramon-Taubadel), Agroecology (Scherber, Tscharntke), Animal Breeding and Genetics (Simianer), Ecosystem Modelling (Meyer, Wiegand), Forest Inventory and Remote Sensing (Kleinn), Genetic Epidemiology (Bickeböller), Statistics and Econometrics (Sperlich), and the Courant Research Centre on Poverty, Equity and Growth in Developing Countries (Krivobokova). Successful applicants hold a master degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economy, Ecological Sciences, Genetics, Animal Breeding, Forestry, or a related field with a high interest in statistical methodologies and interdisciplinary work. Nordam Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship, USA Scholarships, under graduate scholarship – Awards will be made to U.S. citizens without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. This scholarship will be presented at the NBAA 63rd Annual Meeting & Convention in October 2010.

To be eligible for the NORDAM Dee Howard/Etienne Fage Scholarship, the applicant must be an undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
